Blissful Ignorance

The fact that the press (or some of it) has no problem giving Palin a pass for not knowing the Bush Doctrine is is ludicrous. Who cares it "regular Americans" don't know what it is - Sarah Palin isn't running for a "regular" job - she's running to be VP, and anyone who's followed our Foreign Policy over the last 7 years - at the level expected of someone who wants to guide that policy - should know what the Bush Doctrine is. We don't hire President's and VP's who have an "average" knowledge of policy! Here is a video compilation of intelligent press members who are writing it off! Candy Crowley, David Gergon, Juan Williams, etc! All of these people KNOW what it is - why do they not expect the VP to have a working knowledge of current/past events! I'm outraged.

Also, Yglesias sums up my views on:
(1) how her absolute support for anything Israel does is reckless, and
(2) how the "Bush Doctrine" really used Orwellian language to substitute definitions of unjust "preventive" war with the definition of just "pre-emptive" war.

UPDATE: Now, some "experts" think that there are actually Several Bush Doctrines! This is just flat out wrong. No one ever referred to it as the "freedom agenda" or any other of Bush's silly justifications.
