Science vs Religion

(via KKP) Last week Stanley Fish reviewed Barbara Herrnstein Smith's new book Natural Reflections: Human Cognition at the Nexus of Science and Religion. Fish's review is dense, but excellent. Then, the other day, the author responded to Fish's column. I'm not even going to try and explain the ideas but I'll just suggest you read it because there's so much material and philosophy in there.

But if I were to summarize one version of the argument I would say: "Science asks 'what' .... Religion asks 'why'".

Can I say that both are bad?
