(via Halperin) Sen. Dick Durbin asked President Bush to commute ex-Gov, current felon, George Ryan's 6 1/2 year sentence. Ryan has served a year of his sentence for federal racketeering, fraud, etc.

I love Dick...Durbin that is...but what the hell? George Ryan was convicted, sentenced, and given every opportunity to appeal...and then some. So what if he dies in jail; that's what old convicted felons do...they die in jail.
