I only caught Thompson and Lieberman last night. The whole thing seemed pretty lackadaisical, and I've read some places that there's not a lot of excitement in St. Paul. Even Bush didn't show up in person (and I guess said "if the Hanoi Hilton can't break McCain, then the angry left won't either" -- wow, comparing liberals to the NVA!!!). As for Thompson, he was fine, but he always comes across as if he doesn't know that much (he admitted he wasn't up there to give McCain's positions ... and when he was a candidate he'd always say "apparently over in Iraq ..." like he didn't know what's up).
As for Lieberman - wow - he is full blown GOP. First, he absolutely bought into the BS theme of "Country First" (implying Dems are un-American), then he kept on saying we need to get above the partisan divide and work together (which doesn't work if the two parties disagree on HUGE things, like Iraq!), lastly, he totally endorsed Palin (which ne didn't need to do, he could have just endorsed McCain on foreign policy, not go lock stock and barrell into the tank with him).
